On July 31, the Clippers extended a qualifying offer to Amir Coffey, making the 24-year-old wing a restricted free agent after completing a two-year, two-way deal with the team.
His free agency has finally come to an end, as Lawrence Frank told reporters Friday that Coffey would be signing another two-way contract with L.A. with an opportunity to compete for the final spot on the 15-man NBA roster. The Clippers have 20 training camp invites, and haven’t even committed to filling the spot before the start of the season, so the battle will be fierce.
Coffey played in Summer League with the Clippers in August, starting all five games and averaging 27 minutes per contest.
