We're in the beginning stages of the 2015 NBA free agency period, and the Los Angeles Clippers are one of the most intriguing teams out there when it comes to the wheelings and dealings on the market. Here's a snapshot of their current free agency plans.
DeAndre Jordan Update
According to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders, "the Clippers’ pitch today will likely be DeAndre Jordan’s last meeting. Decision could come soon. Source: “Don’t expect him to drag it out.”'
The big man's meeting with the New York Knicks on Thursday reportedly left Jordan with a good impression, but the Knicks reportedly remain a long shot to land him. According to multiple outlets, the Clippers and Mavs appear to be the only two legit options for Jordan at this point -- with the departure of Tyson Chandler in Dallas opening up cap room and a starting spot for Jordan if he decides to go that way.
Amar'e Stoudemire An Option If Jordan Departs
Free-agent center Amar'e Stoudemire is waiting out the DeAndre Jordan situation in Los Angeles before making a decision on the Clippers' free-agent overtures.
Per Ben Bolch of the L.A. Times, a "person close to Amare Stoudemire says he would only be interested if DeAndre Jordan departed, not as a backup to Jordan & Blake Griffin."
Stoudemire averaged 11.5 points in 21.1 minutes per game with the Knicks and Mavs in 2014-15, shooting 55.7% from the field.
