When former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer rescued the Los Angeles Clippers last month by purchasing them away from exiled former owner Donald Sterling, you had to know changes were coming.
Aside from retooling the fan experience at the Staples Center for Clippers fans, Ballmer also has another sweeping change that he is implementing - banning the use of all Apple products for members of franchise, including in the locker room.
“Most of the Clippers are on Windows, some of the players and coaches are not,” Ballmer said via John McAuliffe of Stashed.com and Mary Milliken of Reuters.“And Doc kind of knows that’s a project. It’s one of the first things he said to me: ‘We are probably going to get rid of these iPads, aren’t we?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, we probably are.’ But I promised we would do it during the off season.”
Ballmer, ever the Microsoft loyalist despite not working for the company any longer (he's even banned his own family from using Apple products), is slowly turning the Clippers into an Apple-free zone.
So, those Beats By Dre headphones (an Apple imprint) that most NBA players sport are also likely out in favor of something a bit more Microsofterrific.
