Los Angeles Clippers big man DeAndre Jordan is happy with the current situation he's in with the franchise as of late, but that doesn't mean he's not going to spread his wings a bit in free agency and take a look around.
"I mean I’ve obviously been here seven years, and the past two have been great,” Jordan said recently, via USA Today. “Doc (Clippers coach Doc Rivers) has been my biggest supporter and the best coach I’ve ever had. The team is great. The guys are great. We have great camaraderie. But the free agency process is definitely going to be a fun one.”
Jordan added that he's not looking to sign a one-year contact in order to take advantage of a potential rise in the salary cap the year after.
“I’m not going to be greedy and sign a one-year deal,” Jordan said. “Nah. I’m just focused on getting it over with and focusing on playing again. I’m just trying to win here.”
The question now is this -- are the Clippers willing to bank on Jordan's athleticism remaining a prime asset over a multi-year max deal, or will they wait and see if the market dictates such a contract for the 26-year-old?
Stay tuned.
