Clippers Rumors: Clippers remain hopeful about LeBron, Sterling a free agency problem?

In today's Clippers rumors and news update, the Los Angeles Clippers are remaining open about the chance of bring Miami Heat free agent LeBron James to the Staples Center - regardless of the roadblocks seemingly in the franchise's way.

According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, the Clippers won't let rumors of James' return to Miami and/or other suitors deter them in their pursuit:

In order for the Clippers to bring LeBron in on the max, one of two courses of action needs to take place.

Either the Clippers need to find homes for upwards of five or six of their contracted players via trade, or they would need to dangle Blake Griffin in a sign-and-trade with Miami.

While both of those scenarios are feasible if not likely, the other major hurdle could be the legal battle surrounding exiled team owner Donald Sterling.

If Sterling can prolong the probate trial between himself and his wife, Shelly Sterling, for even a few weeks (and thus jeopardize the team's sale to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer), the specter of his racist diatribe could sour free agents on signing with the team until things are sorted out.

This could be especially true for LeBron James who has been a vocal supporter of NBA commissioner Adam Silver in his attempts to oust Sterling from his position with the Clippers.

In summation, there are plenty of things which could block a potential move for James to Los Angeles. However, that won't stop the team from trying.
