WR Jones joins Chargers after Johnson's injury

SAN DIEGO -- Wasting little time to address depth at receiver, the San Diego Chargers agreed to terms with veteran receiver James Jones on Tuesday.

He told ESPN's Josina Anderson in a text message that he will sign a one-year contract.

Jones traveled to San Diego on Tuesday for a workout that included receivers Brian Hartline and Lance Moore.

San Diego receiver Stevie Johnson suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee on Sunday that will require surgery, leaving him out indefinitely. The Chargers have solid depth at receiver behind starters Keenan Allen and Travis Benjamin in Dontrelle Inman, Tyrell Williams and Javontee Herndon, but it's mostly unproven.
