SAN DIEGO -- The assignment for San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator John Pagano had been a tough one the past four seasons -- figure out a way to stop a Denver Broncos' offense led by Peyton Manning.
But with Manning retired after winning a Super Bowl with the Broncos last season, Pagano is tasked with designing a defense that can control first-year starter Trevor Siemian.
The Chargers finished 1-8 against the Broncos with Manning as the team’s starting quarterback.
Sieman missed Denver’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons with an injured left shoulder.
