The California Supreme Court could decide the fate of a Chargers stadium in downtown San Diego, if City Attorney Jan Goldsmith gets his wish.
Goldsmith said he would ask the state’s high court to “take jurisdiction” over the city’s November election as it pertains to two stadium-related ballot initiatives; the Chargers plan to raise a hotel tax to build a stadium and convention center, and the Citizens’ Plan, which would also raise the tax but limits itself to allowing such a complex if the hotel industry meets certain organizational thresholds and no public money goes toward stadium construction.
