A word like “despicable” should be used sparingly. Ascribing a word like “dishonest” requires a burden of proof.
But how long can we give the NFL the benefit of any doubt?
This is not a hysterical manifesto calling for the abolishment of football. Football is so much more than the game that millions watch a few play professionally. It is a builder of men that has, over generations, been played by millions. Certainly, it is great entertainment. The love of a team creates and strengthens bonds, creates memories.
But how long do we continue to focus only on fantasy points and quarterback ratings and Super Bowl rings and other facets of our selfish football indulgence?
