Derwin James saw his first action with the 1s tonight and he immediately made his presence felt. On the 3rd play from scrimmage, Drew Brees tested the defense deep down the middle and the rookie safety made him pay.
Who says Florida State’s James can’t play centerfield? That was a beautiful play by Derwin. He will move all over the defense, so he probably won’t get a ton of interceptions, but he is a playmaker and you will notice him in a positive way every week. This was the first of many big plays to come.
