CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One of the benefits of having players go out with injuries this season for the San Diego Chargers is others having to emerge.
Receiver Tyrell Williams is one of those players. Considered the team’s No. 4 receiver heading into training camp, Williams has taken on a much larger role than anticipated in San Diego’s offense with season-ending knee injuries to Stevie Johnson and Keenan Allen.
And so far, the undrafted second-year player out of Western Oregon has proven to be up to the challenge. Williams leads the Chargers in receptions (55) and is tied with rookie tight end Hunter Henry for the team lead in touchdown catches with six.
