SAN DIEGO -- During their four-year run on top of the AFC West, nose tackle Jamal Williams controlled the middle of the defense for the San Diego Chargers.
Williams was a critical piece of San Diego’s success on defense up front -- a wide-bodied, run-stuffing nose tackle who kept the linebackers clean.
A three-time Pro Bowler, Williams was part of San Diego’s 50th anniversary team. Williams, 40, returned to the Chargers during training camp as a coaching intern and hopes to parlay that experience into a full-time job in the league.
“You’re looking at it through some different lenses and perspective as a coach, understanding the preparation involved getting these guys ready when you get them out there for practice,” Williams said.
