The Chargers are Machiavellian fire ants at a picnic.
Party spoilers. Ruiners of fun. Annoying. But nothing if not timely. Calculated. They do very little coincidentally. And nothing even bordering on stupidity, crassness aside.
Take the events of Monday as an example.
Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s stadium task force concluded its work and came up with a financial plan for a new, $1.1 billion stadium that does not involve new taxes. It’s flawed, but given the circumstances, the nine-person panel came up with the best plan possible.
The Chargers, who have said nothing publicly about the report, are not going to accept it as is.
