Win or lose this week, Philip Rivers is headed to the Super Bowl tournament.
It could make sense, then, for coach Anthony Lynn to limit the exposure of Rivers and several other players Sunday in Denver.
Lynn, when asked about finding rest for certain players, said what a coach should say.
“Oh, no,” he said. “We’re in no position to rest anybody.”
He added: “We’re not trying to limp into these playoffs. We’re trying to go in with a win. We’ve got to get ready to play everybody.”
Something else to consider is there’s a sliver of a chance that beating the Broncos (6-9) would net a first-round bye, meaning that Rivers and Antonio Gates would need only two playoff victories to reach their first Super Bowl.
