SAN DIEGO -- In a letter sent to the team on Friday, San Diego mayor Kevin Faulconer explained to the San Diego Chargers that he needs more details on a proposal to build a $1.8 billion NFL stadium and convention center expansion downtown before deciding whether to support the project.
“Simply put, we must know these specifics in order to responsibly evaluate the impacts of this project and determine its true effects on San Diego’s economy and the city’s finances,” Faulconer wrote in the letter. “This is essential to determining potential risk to the city’s operating budget arising from this initiative.
