After numerous reports declaring him the favorite for the job, former Chargers head coach and 49ers defensive assistant Brandon Staley is being named the new defensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints under Kellen Moore.
During the 2023 season, Moore was the Chargers offensive coordinator under Staley in his lone season with Los Angeles.

During Staley’s tenure as head coach of the Chargers, his defenses never ranked higher than 20th in either points allowed per game or total yards allowed.
