SAN DIEGO -- A half hour after practice during offseason work this week, San Diego Chargers safety Dwight Lowery still had his helmet on, working on zone drops on the field with fellow defensive backs Adrian Phillips and Craig Mager.
“I’m still learning a lot and getting adjusted to the things they’re asking me to do in this type of defense,” Lowery said. “There’s some nuisances and differences than what I’m used to. So I’m just getting some extra reps at that and continuing to improve.”
Lowery’s work ethic and attention to detail are two of the reasons the Chargers signed the 30-year-old veteran in free agency after losing one of the best safeties in the game in Eric Weddle to the Baltimore Ravens.
