SAN DIEGO -- Russell Okung bet on himself and won big.
NFL observers snickered when Okung negotiated his own contract before last season, brokering a multi-year that at its maximum value would have paid him nearly $50 million but which turned into a one-year, $8 million deal once the Denver Broncos declined to pick up a $1 million option bonus that would have engaged the final four years of the contract and included $21 million in guaranteed money.
