If the Chargers were to pursue a new stadium in Mission Valley, a public pledge of at least $550 million was their asking price.
County Superviser Ron Roberts told 1360 AM Wednesday the team requested an additional $200 million Monday, on top of the $350 million the city and county had pledged last year.
Chargers consultant Fred Maas, when asked about what Roberts said, told the radio station he's against discussing in public the details of the bargaining session.
But Maas didn't dispute Roberts' account.
When the Chargers announced Tuesday they'll pursue a stadium downtown, a glum-sounding Roberts told 1090 AM a stadium there may not open until 2024.
