Quick hits on Philip Rivers, Antonio Gates, a former San Diego teammate of theirs and the current Super Bowl tournament:
It was fun to watch friends and former San Diego teammates Eric Weddle duel in recent weeks.
Weddle had the better game in Carson, making several good mental and physical plays in his team’s 22-10 victory created largely by rare defensive dominance.
Both Rivers and Weddle had good showings in the rematch Sunday in Baltimore.
One play may have given Rivers bragging rights, though — Rivers burning the Weddle-led defense to all but close out his team’s 23-17, playoff victory.
