Figuratively, a breeze with some sting to it blew through Chargers Park on Wednesday.
The occasion was Philip Rivers, franchise quarterback and face of San Diego sports, appearing on the injury report.
There was no reason for alarm, apparently. Rivers was a full participant. Even so, a foot injury he sustained last Sunday was serious enough for the team to list him three days later, following the first practice of the week.
The setback came late in the second quarter, when a defensive end for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Chris Smith, ran off the line unblocked and, despite a lunging block from running back Danny Woodhead, hit Rivers in the right arm and left leg as the pass came out.
