The quarterback of the Los Angeles Chargers drew a standing ovation at the annual San Diego Hall of Champions dinner Tuesday night.
Philip Rivers, wearing a plaid shirt, sports jacket, slacks and cowboy boots, ascended a banquet-room stage and spoke with a crack in his voice.
“I hope you’ll always see me as a San Diego Charger," he told the audience at the Town and Country Hotel in Mission Valley.
RIvers was on hand to honor, among others, former Chargers teammate Nick Hardwick, a 2017 inductee into the Breitbard Hall of Fame.
