REPORT: Chargers to re-sign QB Kellen Clemens

According to San Diego Union-Tribune’s Michael Gehlken, the Chargers have re-signed QB Kellen Clemens.

Clemens signed with the Chargers in 2013 and will remain with the team for another season (barring training camp cuts). Clemens is 33 years old and should not be trusted in your starting lineup, but at least he knows the offense should anything happen (knock on wood).

The Chargers have tried other options in the past in regards to the backup QB position. Zach Mettenberger, the Titans’ sixth-round pick in 2014, was signed by the Chargers last season to compete for the job, while Chargers 2013 seventh-rounder Brad Sorensen also had his chance; both were cut prior to the 2016 season after failing to surpass Clemens.
