REPORT: Chargers Re-Sign Veteran Backup Kellen Clemens

The Los Angeles Chargers and backup quarterback Kellen Clemens have agreed to terms on a one-year deal according to former Chargers beat writer Michael Gehlken via Twitter:

Chargers agreed to one-year contract with QB Kellen Clemens, source said. Will be his fourth season behind Philip Rivers.

The veteran quarterback has been Philip Rivers’ primary backup for the previous three years and will resume that role once again in 2017. He is unlikely to help the Chargers win any games if Rivers is lost to injury, but presumably, Rivers likes having him around, so he is back again.
