At first blush, there is much to like about the Chargers’ design of a proposed downtown stadium and convention center, San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer said Friday, but he still needs much more information before weighing in on the $1.8 billion project.
“I thought some of the design elements were very creative,” said Faulconer, who praised the design’s nautical theme and the architect’s efforts to integrate a mammoth 15-acre project into the East Village neighborhood.
Still needed, though, are answers to a long list of questions he has about the project’s financing, potential risks to the taxpayers and specifics of the stadium and convention center design, which is still conceptual.
