In the last 10 days, two of the best young offensive tackles in the NFL received massive contract extensions.
First, the Vikings and Christian Darrisaw, whom was drafted a handful of slot behind Slater in 2021, agreed to a four-year, $113 million extension with $77 million fully guaranteed. Then, on Thursday morning, the Buccaneers and left tackle Tristan Wirfs agreed to a historic five-year, $140.63 million extension that makes him the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history.
Both, individually, are great to see for Darrisaw and Wirfs’ camps. However, these deals only ramp up the pressure for the Chargers and Rashawn Slater to get a deal done as soon as possible to avoid further increases to his deserved money.
