The Chargers upgraded at center, it appeared, when they signed Mike Pouncey last month after the Miami Dolphins released the three-time Pro Bowler.
Pouncey, 28 and coming off a 16-game season, profiles as Team Spanos’ best pivot since Nick Hardwick had a strong final season in 2013.
This is still how it appears. But, an asterisk for health should be attached.
The Miami Herald reported Tuesday that a factor in the Dolphins’ decision was a belief that Pouncey’s “chronic hip injuries” would cause him significant discomfort and even pain this year.
