San Diego — A series of emails released Thursday show City Attorney Jan Goldsmith and the Chargers wanted city-hired experts to begin stadium negotiations with the team three weeks before the May 18 release of the mayor’s task force financing proposal.

The goal was accelerating the negotiations partly in response to pressure from the NFL, but no such meetings took place for a variety of reasons and the city’s experts didn’t begin negotiating with the Chargers until June 2.
