Just an exhibition game, but Chargers blockers whiffed too often Saturday.
Missed blocks imperiled Philip Rivers, whom the Seahawks knocked down four times in the second quarter. The Chargers also gave up penetration on several run plays, a bugaboo in the other two exhibitions too.
Some of the leakage owed to Seattle's quickness. Other times it was a slow or less-than-stout response, either by linemen or running backs. Rivers can cover up for his blockers, but when the games begin to count, Sept. 13, the blockers will need to be on point more often.
Why you should be excited
Melvin Ingram whipped Seahawks blockers as part of the starting defense's fine showing.
