The solution for the NFL is not forcing players to stand at attention during the national anthem, facing the flag, helmets off, arms at their sides, eyes forward. Or requiring just those players on the field to stand during the anthem while dissenters remain in the locker room, or fining teams if players sit or kneel during the anthem.
The solution is not playing the anthem.
Because, really, think about it: Why do we play it before sporting events?
What connection does it have to a bunch of athletes about to play a Wednesday afternoon game in the dog days of August while fans drink beer and fiddle on their phones and make last-minute bets on their team to cover the spread?
