Kevin Faulconer saw the same renderings as everyone else on Thursday evening and had some of the same thoughts.
The mayor likes that the Chargers incorporated a nautical theme into their stadium and convention center conceptual drawings. Faulconer believes they stayed true to the area's architecture and appreciated their efforts to minimize the building’s height to better fit into the East Village’s scope. He can envision the building, with its ground-level shops and other attractions, fitting into the master plan for downtown.
“I thought some of the design elements were very creative,” Faulconer said Friday.
But he’s like most other people, too, in that he doesn’t have enough answers to be able to declare a public verdict on whether he supports the project.
