The Chargers made offensive guard Matt Feiler their second big free-agent signing following the move to ink Corey Linsley to a then-record contract for a center in the NFL. After landing the First-Team All-Pro, the Bolts added Feiler in an attempt to get bigger along the line while adding a player who has proven inside-outside versatility.
According to Pro Football Focus’ latest rankings of the top-32 players at each position, Feiler just barely made the cut as he was ranked the 32nd-best guard in the NFL by analyst and author, Sam Monson. Here’s what he had to say about the Chargers’ starting left guard:
“Matt Feiler may be a better tackle than he is a guard, but a player who has had to fill in across multiple spots in Pittsburgh should upgrade significantly at guard for the Chargers and be capable of kicking out to right tackle if Bryan Bulaga gets hurt again.
