Lowery helping Bolts succeed without Weddle

So far, life without Eric Weddle is working out fine for the Chargers.

Dwight Lowery, the replacement to the five-time All-Pro safety, has quarterbacked the defensive backs with good results while costing $2.05 million less against the salary cap than Weddle is for the Baltimore Ravens and about $6 million less than Weddle’s cap hit in 2015.

“He’s playing really well back there,” Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said on Wednesday of the 30-year-old, who started 16 games for Pagano last year and will go against the Colts on Sunday.
