After the Chargers chose to move on from Austin Ekeler and Joshua Kelley earlier this offseason, they took a bit of a shotgun approach to building the backfield back up. Former Ravens J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards are now in powder blue, on top of the team’s selection of Kimani Vidal in the sixth round of the draft.
Now while this position group doesn’t look as shimmering on the outside, it’s now got several pieces of a committee that the Chargers hope to utilize to their full capacity in 2024. Edwards is the Thunder. Dobbins — should he remain healthy — is looking to be the lightning.
