SAN DIEGO -- Keenan Allen is back in his familiar spot on the field, talking trash and route concepts with his usual nemesis (cornerback Jason Verrett) during practices for the Los Angeles Chargers.
“We can’t win. So were both winners with the mouth,” joked Allen.
However, both are still limited during offseason conditioning as they rehab from ACL knee injuries that ended their 2016 campaign. So fans we’ll have to wait until training camp for a continuation of their highly-contested one-on-one battles during practice.
For now, Allen will have to take solace in his ability to run 300-yard sprints and work through ladder drills as he prepares to return to the field after suffering an ACL right knee injury in the season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs that required surgery and forced the Cal product to miss the rest of the season.
