SAN DIEGO – Rookie fullback Derek Watt and older brother J.J. Watt had Sunday’s date circled on the calendar since April.
But with J.J. Watt out for the season due to a lingering back injury, the NFL’s three-time Defensive player of the year will be watching from the sidelines instead of wreaking havoc on the field when the San Diego Chargers hit the road to face the Houston Texans on Sunday.
“Whether he’s there or not, it’s obviously another game for us,” Derek Watt said. “He’s doing well. He’s in a good place recovering. He’s been able to take some time away, just getting back healthy mentally and physically.
