While it is a bit of a fools errand to overreact to the first week of preseason, there has to be some concern about the Chargers predictably poor offensive performance. Since the arrival of Jim Harbaugh and the departure of the teams’ top two receivers, the narrative surrounding the offense has been their lack of fire power around Justin Herbert. After passing up on some elite receivers early in the first round of the draft, this offense looks stuck in the mud. The quarterback play behind the currently Herbert, who is dealing with a foot injury, is also cause for concern, but can temporarily be attributed to the lack of real weapons within the offense.
