SAN DIEGO – Chargers defensive coordinator John Pagano asked second-year cornerback Jason Verrett to take on more of a leadership role for his defense.
“You always look for young players to be able to step up,” Pagano said last week. “Jason is a guy who leads by example, by his work ethic and ability on the field to make plays. At times you see him more vocal in those roles.”
Verrett took that request to heart with an impressive, first-half performance.
The TCU product scored his first career touchdown on a 68-yard interception return for a score.
