SAN DIEGO -- Damion Square grew up in the shadow of the University of Houston near the site that houses NRG Stadium, where the San Diego Chargers will play this weekend when the face the Houston Texans.
Sunday will be a homecoming for Square, a Houston native who grew up as a member of a tight-knit, African American community that spawned celebrities like Beyonce, Phylicia Rashad and Dexter Manley.
Square never played at NRG Stadium, but he attended high school games and the Labor Day Classic between historically black colleges Texas Southern University and Prairie View A&M at the facility and also watched the Houston Oilers at the nearby Astrodome.
