Game-film review largely has been an imbalanced Monday experience for coaches and players at Chargers Park this season. The highs are high, like the classic bootcamp dialogue in “Full Metal Jacket” or emblematic mafia scenes in “Goodfellas.” But like those movies, the film at some point takes a drastic turn.
The recruits graduate and go off to Vietnam.
The mobsters get pinched or worse.
And the Chargers, in too-unbelievable-to-script fashion, fall apart spectacularly to lose a game in which they were seemingly in control. Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorcese can be celebrated for directing such productions.
