For Chargers' Mike McCoy, separation in the preparation

SAN DIEGO -- Mike McCoy says his team is plays hard.

The San Diego Chargers coach believes he has talent on the roster to compete for a championship.

But with the Chargers sitting at 2-4 and losers of four of their last five games, McCoy wants his young players to emulate veterans such as quarterback Philip Rivers, tight end Antonio Gates, receiver Malcom Floyd and safety Eric Weddle.

McCoy said the Chargers as a team, both players and coaches, have to be more prepared on game days.
