The NFL Stadium Game was probably unwinnable for San Diego once the NFL cartel approved for Dean Spanos, the overly enabled owner of the Los Angeles Chargers*, a rent-free deal to join the L.A. Rams in a privately-financed palace targeted for Inglewood.
Spanos came off as insincere in his attempt to stay in San Diego. Were the folks across him at the bargaining table any more sincere? Should San Diegans get back the hours they devoted to a farcical Stadium Game?
Mayor Kevin Faulconer isn’t to blame for Team Spanos’ exit, and his volunteers did fine work in crafting a stadium proposal that Team Spanos in essence tossed in the garbage can without real study.
