Like San Diegans of many ages, Josh Lewin felt the pain of football divorce, the Spanos Chargers jilting him, too.
Six months after the NFL club’s relocation was announced in 2017, the team’s longtime radio broadcaster learned from A.G. Spanos that, in effect, he wouldn’t be going to Los Angeles.
Someone with a full L.A. profile was wanted for the job, he was told.
Lewin can recall the day — June 6 — that he got the news.
It was a bummer to lose the play-by-play job, which spanned 12 seasons including the four consecutive AFC West winners from 2006-09 — but Lewin said no one should’ve felt sorry for him.
