SAN DIEGO -- Patiently waiting for the right fit after the San Diego Chargers released him in March, inside linebacker Donald Butler found a new home on Wednesday, signing a one-year deal to join the Arizona Cardinals.
A third-round selection by the San Diego Chargers out of the University of Washington in the 2011 draft, Butler had a career-best 96 tackles in his rookie season and recorded five sacks total in his first two seasons.
However, Butler never quite met expectations after signing a seven-year, $51.8 million contract extension with San Diego during the 2014 offseason.
