SAN DIEGO – Dexter McCoil had been living in a hotel near the San Diego Chargers’ facility since April.
But upon finding out that he made the team’s 53-man roster over the weekend, the Tulsa product began the process of finding a more permanent dwelling.
“I’m thankful I’ll be able to move out, find a home and make San Diego my home,” he said.
At 6-4 and 220 pounds, San Diego’s coaching staff initially was unsure where the former CFL-standout would fit in the team’s defensive system -- as a safety or a linebacker.
But McCoil demonstrated that he could deliver a blow and make plays as a strong safety in defensive coordinator John Pagano’s scheme.
