On Thursday morning, the NFL announced that Chargers safety Derwin James was named Defensive Player of the Month for December, joining Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Leonard Williams as the NFC’s counterpart.
James has started 16 games this season, marking his first time starting at least that many in consecutive seasons and just the third time in his career he’s logged that many starts in a year, joining last season and his rookie campaign in 2018.
Throughout December, James totaled 25 tackles, three sacks, one interception, seven tackles for loss, and two pass breakups.
