Defending Chiefs' rugged offense key for underdog Chargers

With opponents like the Kansas City Chiefs in mind, the San Diego Chargers put a plan in place during the offseason to bolster the team’s run defense.

The Chargers signed run-stuffing nose tackle Brandon Mebane in free agency, selected the most versatile defensive lineman in this year’s draft in Joey Bosa, and added sure-tackling defensive backs in safety Dwight Lowery and cornerback Casey Hayward in free agency.

Well, San Diego will get to see how improved its defense is when the Chargers hit the road to face the AFC West rival Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.
