Darrell Stuckey teaches football back home

Before Chargers home games, safety Darrell Stuckey sprints to the east end zone and bounds across the grass, exhorting fans to raise the volume.

Stuckey embraces leadership, whether as Chargers special teams captain or off the field, where he mentors youths either in San Diego or where he grew up in Kansas.

Last week, the University of Kansas alumnus oversaw his fifth annual football camp in Kansas City, Kan.

Stuckey told the Kansas City Star that about 250 local youths attended. Along with football instruction, they received a T-shirt, a sports bag, a rubber football, a sports bottle and team photos and schedule from the Chargers.
