After the Los Angeles Chargers released safety Jahleel Addae, many Chargers fans expected the team to go after some of the big named free safeties on the free-agent market (ie. Earl Thomas, Tyrann Mathieu, etc. ) Due to limited cap space and the large salaries these free-agent safties commanded, the team was unable to bring these household names in.
During the NFL’s annual league meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, head coach Anthony Lynn said he would not rule out the possibility of adding competition at the free safety position through free agency or the draft.
One name that comes to mind that is still a free agent is free safety Tre Boston.
