From Eric Weddle’s scalp this week, a doctor removed seven stitches.
Would’ve been a dozen, if not for Weddle being so hard-headed.
“I’m tough,” the Poway resident said Sunday afternoon at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, before doffing a Lakers cap and running a hand across his scalp, after having played an NFL game with stitches intact.
The hard-headed line is a try at humor.
When it comes to football, Weddle is headstrong — probably to good effect, though the perils of head trauma warrant mention, too.
At 34 he’s ancient for an NFL safety, leading to the logical conclusion that Weddle, whose exceptional athleticism shouldn’t be overlooked, has worked his way into rare terrain.
